The Downtown Investment Authority (DIA) in Jacksonville, Florida, is considering granting $271,170 to finance the construction of a speakeasy restaurant and pub-style nightclub in vacant space downtown. The establishments are the brainchild of investor Jon Mroz, the managing partner of 327 E. Bay LLC (Liberty Bay Properties, LLC), which owns the commercial storefronts that include Live Bar, Myth Nightclub and Element Bistro + Bar. If the deals are approved, they will be the second round of incentives granted by the city for the 333 and 327 E. Bay St property.

The proposed incentives include grants for façade improvements and impact fees, as well as a tax rebate program for the Wapoint Pub and Pagemaster Inn project.
The DIA has identified the two projects as opportunities to further revitalize the downtown area and attract visitors. The incentives, if approved, would help the projects move forward and potentially generate economic activity and jobs for the area. The DIA board is set to vote on the incentives at an upcoming meeting.
